Man sits in chair and woman stands beside him in a modern living room with large windows, green sofa, and visible garden outside. Warm, cozy vibe.

It means a great deal to have our Gin Distillery project featured in The Spaces, as part of their "How We Live" series exploring unique homes shaped by creative thinking and a strong sense of place.

Located in Whitechapel, this South East London home was formerly a Victorian gin distillery. Kinder Design, working alongside Open Practice Architecture, reimagined the industrial shell into a warm, tactile and layered family home.

A couple in a modern living room, man seated, woman standing, large window view, green sofa, plant, wood stove. Bright, airy ambiance.

The project retains the building’s original character - soaring steel windows, exposed brickwork, timber and concrete surfaces while introducing softness through a muted material palette, curated furnishings and carefully zoned spaces. Designed for Leo Wood, founder of Kinder Design, and Rupert Scott of Open Practice Architecture, the home is a personal reflection of their shared ethos: that the most successful interiors balance honesty of material with emotional resonance.  Featured by The Spaces, the project is celebrated for its adaptive reuse of an industrial building into a highly liveable and characterful modern home.
