The cover includes headlines about joyful interiors, Mediterranean style, summer blues, and easy-living decorating ideas.

There’s something special about designing for your own home. Every decision is personal, every compromise considered, and every inch has to work hard. So it was a real treat to see our Kinder Design kitchen featured in House Beautiful recently - captured beautifully by Nicky Rampley-Clarke.

If you look closely at the pages, you might spot a few of our favourite kitchen design tips and tricks - small details that make everyday life run that little bit smoother.

Designing Our Own Family Kitchen, The Kinder Design Way

We collaborated with Fi from Holte Studio to bring this kitchen to life - and she was the perfect partner. Together, we focused on the same principles we bring to our client work: clarity, function, sustainability, and character. The end result is simple but incredibly effective: a kitchen that works exactly as we need it to, without excess fuss or over design.

We used Vitsoe shelving along the back wall - a flexible, timeless storage system that keeps everything to hand while still looking beautifully ordered. Behind it sits a simple oak veneer wall, which continues seamlessly into a hidden pantry cupboard. It’s one of our favourite details - the warmth of wood, the hidden functionality, and the sense of calm continuity it brings to the space.

Furniture with Soul

As with any Kinder Design project, we layered in pieces that tell a story. The vintage Louis Poulsen pendant from Merchant & Found adds just the right amount of patina and nostalgia to balance the clean lines of the cabinetry. A solid ash dining table by Kristensen anchors the space, surrounded by colourful dining chairs from Vitra. And underfoot, a rug from Piglet brings a layer of softness and texture that makes the dining area feel connected, comfortable, and lived-in.

It’s a space that reflects how we live as a family: simple, practical, and relaxed.

Designing Kitchens That Work - and Last

Designing a kitchen is one of the biggest and most complex parts of any home renovation - but it’s also one of the most rewarding. A well-planned kitchen doesn’t just look good; it changes how you live day to day.

At Kinder Design, we specialise in creating kitchens that balance beauty with function -spaces that feel warm, personal, and built to last. From layout and storage design to material selection and lighting, we help our clients navigate the process from concept to completion.

If you’re planning a kitchen renovation and want help creating a space that works beautifully and feels like home, we’d love to chat.
