Elegant adjoining living room featuring a deep blue velvet sofa, linen floor-length curtains, white French doors, abstract artwork, and a mix of playful soft furnishings — a calm, contemporary contrast to the bolder tones next door in this colourful London home.

At Kinder Design, we feel very lucky to live and work in this corner of the city. Our studio is in Vanguard Court in Camberwell and I live just down the road in East Dulwich - two leafy, creative pockets of south east London that I’m endlessly inspired by.

Recently, we shared a few of our favourite local interiors shops on Instagram - but narrowing it down to just five was impossible. So here’s a second round of SE London gems we love (and visit often).

Whether you’re a local, a designer, or just passing through with an eye for interiors, these independent stores are absolutely worth a browse:

1. Lamp LDN - Peckham

Hidden away just off Bellenden Road, this little shop is a total delight. As the name suggests, Lamp LDN specialises in beautiful decorative lamps and shades (with plenty of ruffles, trims and colour), but you’ll also find tableware, gifts, and lovely home bits that make a dinner table feel special.📍@lampldn

2. The Nunhead Gardener - Nunhead & Camberwell

Technically not an interiors shop, but an essential stop nonetheless. The Nunhead Gardener is my go-to for houseplants — a quick and easy way to refresh any room. Their Camberwell location is dangerously close to our studio... and I’m not above a spontaneous plant purchase on my lunch break.📍@thenunheadgardener

3. Vardo - Sydenham

One of those stores where you never leave empty handed. Vardo is a thoughtfully curated homeware shop selling functional and timeless pieces — think candles, glassware, linen, and the best kind of smelly things. Always great for gifting (even if it’s just a gift to yourself).📍@vardoshop

4. Dulwich Reclamation - Sydenham

A must-visit for anyone embarking on a renovation. Dulwich Reclamation is packed with reclaimed doors, fireplaces, floorboards and architectural salvage. It’s the kind of place where you might have to dig a little, but you’ll often find exactly what you didn’t know you needed.📍@dulwichreclamation

5. Windsor Antiques Emporium - East Dulwich

At the top of Lordship Lane, this little shop is a treasure trove of house-clearance finds and antique furniture. It’s a bit of a lucky dip — sometimes brilliant, sometimes less so — but that’s half the fun. Pro tip: they’re not always open, so give them a ring before heading over.📍@windsor_antiques_emporium

Whether you’re furnishing a home, hunting for vintage treasures, or just love a good mooch, these local businesses are well worth a visit. Shopping locally not only supports South East London’s independent scene, it also helps create homes with soul and stories behind them.
