We are delighted to see our Gin Distillery project in Whitechapel featured in the September 2020 edition of Ideal Home, as part of their spotlight on beautifully reimagined real homes.

Located in South East London, the former Victorian gin distillery has been thoughtfully converted by Kinder Design in collaboration with Open Practice Architecture. The interiors respect the industrial heritage of the building while introducing warmth, tactility and a quiet sense of ease through considered material choices and spatial interventions.

Open-plan living space with exposed wooden rafters, large windows, green sofa, and colorful rug. White walls and industrial decor. Text reads "Creative industry."

Magazine spread showing a converted warehouse home with exposed brick exterior and modern interior. Text describes home design choices.

Children reading on a bed in a cozy room with wooden beams. Bright, light-filled spaces with plants and simple decor. Text about home design.

Modern open-plan kitchen and living area with wood beams, handleless cabinets, and large windows. Green sofa, colorful chairs, bright decor.

Magazine spread featuring a modern living space with wooden ceilings. Text highlights decor tips and Scandinavian style furniture.

The design layers reclaimed brick, oak joinery, lime plaster and soft textiles, creating a home that feels at once robust and deeply comfortable. Throughout the space, we focused on balancing the existing character of the building with the evolving needs of family life - a principle that sits at the heart of every Kinder Design project.

Featured by Ideal Home, the Gin Distillery project is recognised for its ability to bridge historical integrity with modern functionality. We believe that the most successful homes are those that tell a story - one that evolves naturally from their structure, their surroundings and the people who inhabit them.
