Not every brief is about blending in. When our client asked for new wardrobes for her top-floor bedroom suite, we knew from the start that these weren’t going to be just storage units - they were going to be a statement.
This was a project rooted in boldness, personality, and joy. Our client loves colour, pattern and impact, so we set out to design something that would feel truly personal, a piece that reflected her confidence and character, while still delivering on everyday function.
From Wallpaper to Wardrobe: The Design Story
At the heart of the design is the Chiang Mai Dragon wallpaper from Schumacher a beautifully iconic pattern full of whimsy, colour, and movement. We used it across the wardrobe doors to create a kind of furniture-as-art moment: bold, sculptural, and impossible to ignore (in the best way).
To bring the design to life, we worked closely with the ever-talented team at EastJR who helped us execute every detail with precision:
We sealed the wallpaper to make it fully wipeable and durable for everyday use
We added a green powder-coated metal trim, which acts as a hard-wearing edge protector and a design accent in its own right
The handles were integrated into the trim, keeping the overall look clean, seamless and elevated
And because no good piece of joinery is complete without a secret surprise, we lined the inside with a warm pink laminate, a subtle nod to our client’s love of all things pink. The result? Wardrobes that bring joy from every angle.
Designing to Fit the Room - and the Person
These wardrobes sit at one end of a fully reconfigured master bedroom suite, which we redesigned from the ground up to better suit how our client actually lives, not just how the space was originally laid out.
We added a dedicated dressing space, softened the palette to allow the wardrobe to sing, and layered in thoughtful finishing touches, including a handmade rug from Afghanistan, sourced via Ishkar, and a sculptural ash pendant light by Tom Raffield.
