A couple sits on stairs in a modern home with wood accents, plants, and art on the walls. The door opens to a garden view.

We are proud to see our project The Coach House featured in Remodelista, one of the leading global platforms for design-led living spaces.

Designed for Leo Wood, founder of Kinder Design, and Rupert Scott of Open Practice Architecture, the Coach House is a deeply personal project. It transforms a neglected MOT garage site in East Dulwich into a layered, light-filled family home - a true collaboration between architecture and interiors from the outset.

Man and woman sit on indoor steps, chatting. Modern home with stairs, plants, and art. Bright, peaceful atmosphere.

A cozy living room with a beige sofa, colorful cushions, and a wooden chair. Large windows show a lush garden. Calm and inviting atmosphere.

The interiors take their cue from the simple honesty of the materials: reclaimed brick, ash joinery and muted tones combine to create a palette that feels at once grounded and refined. Kinder Design’s approach was to layer warmth and texture into the architecture, creating spaces that are calm, versatile and quietly expressive.

Wood-paneled bathroom with rectangular mirror above beige sink. Minimalist design with silver faucet, small vase with greenery. Warm tones.

Cozy bedroom with wooden walls, an open window showing greenery, a beige bed, striped pillow, and a plaid chair, creating a serene mood.

In Remodelista’s feature, the Coach House is praised for its thoughtful spatial planning and understated character - qualities that are central to our ethos at Kinder Design. As an interior design studio based in South East London, we believe homes should evolve naturally from their context, the lives they contain, and the textures of everyday living.

The Coach House stands as a reflection of what Kinder Design values most: integrity of materials, depth of feeling, and a quiet celebration of everyday life. You can view the full project here.
