Vintage-inspired interior featuring a mid-century wooden drafting table, a set of red metal and fabric stacking chairs, a rich wood chest of drawers with a modern desk lamp, a retro cream armchair with black frame, and a sleek coffee table with a black glass top and geometric inlay. A sunburst wall clock and gold marquee letters spelling "RAE" decorate the white painted brick wall.
Crystal Palace Antiques

At Kinder Design, we’re lucky to be based in East Dulwich, a charming pocket of South East London surrounded by creative, characterful neighbourhoods like Peckham, Crystal Palace, Nunhead, Brockley, and Beckenham. This part of London is bursting with independent stores, vintage gems, and inspiring design talent - and we’re here for all of it.

Whether you’re a fellow interior design lover, a local resident, or just passing through, here are a few of my absolute favourite spots for sourcing furniture, discovering unique pieces, and getting inspired.

1. Crystal Palace Antiques

📍 Crystal Palace

If you love a rummage and have a soft spot for everything from mid-century modern to Victorian and Arts & Crafts, this place is a must-visit. Spread across four sprawling floors and home to a variety of dealers, Crystal Palace Antiques is part treasure hunt, part time machine. We’ve sourced some fantastic pieces for both residential and commercial projects here.

A vibrant homeware and lifestyle store interior showcasing an eclectic mix of colourful glassware, taper candles, ceramics, stationery, and clothing. Shelves line the walls with curated goods and design accessories under warm lighting.
Iyouall

2. Iyouall

📍 Peckham

Iyouall is a modern design lover’s dream. Founded by two local designers nearly a decade ago, the Peckham showroom celebrates clean lines, muted palettes, and the timeless simplicity of Scandinavian design. Expect beautiful pieces from brands like Hay and Ferm Living, and a calming aesthetic that feels both stylish and soulful. A regular go-to for Kinder Design's more minimalist and contemporary interiors.

A collection of framed vintage and reproduction Polish poster art, including a bold “Taksówkarz” (Taxi Driver) design featuring Robert De Niro, displayed in a creative studio or shop with colourful artwork on the walls.
Projekt26

3. Projekt26

📍 Peckham (pop-ups only)

Projekt26 is all about vintage and reproduction Polish graphic design, brought to life by two South East London friends with a shared passion for bold visual storytelling. While they don’t have a permanent shop, they often pop up at local events like Peckham Salvage Yard - or you can browse online. Their vibrant poster art is perfect for injecting personality into any space.

A cosy design nook with a speckled blue side table holding a pleated lamp, a round wall mirror reflecting shelves, a hanging navy dressing gown, and a neutral-toned chair, set against a textured monochrome wall.
ALKEMI

4. ALKEMI

📍 Nunhead

ALKEMI is a beautiful, thoughtfully curated shop in Nunhead, run by Jeane, whose impeccable eye for design brings together Korean and Japanese homewares alongside pieces by local makers. Every object in the shop is as practical as it is beautiful - a real nod to the principles of East Asian design. It’s a wonderful place to find gifts, ceramics, and small decorative details for the home.

An outdoor vintage fair in front of a neoclassical mansion at Beckenham Place Park, with people browsing stalls selling furniture and homewares. A wicker chair with colourful blankets sits in the foreground, as a woman and her dog take in the scene.
So Last Century - Vintage Fair

5. So Last Century – Vintage Fair

📍 Beckenham Place Mansion (April 21st, Bank Holiday Monday!)

This retro-styled vintage fair brings together around 40 top-notch dealers in the stunning surroundings of Beckenham Place Mansion, overlooking the park. It’s a brilliant day out for sourcing vintage furniture, homewares, fashion, and a slice of nostalgia. And when you're done, the bar next door in the garden is a great way to round off your visit.

Whether you're sourcing something special or just looking for inspiration, these local spots offer so much to discover. At Kinder Design, we’re all about creating colourful, characterful interiors, and our local South East London community is a constant source of ideas and creativity.

If you're based in South East London and looking for an interior designer who knows the area inside out, get in touch - we’d love to help you bring your vision to life.
