Hallway Interior Design: Create a Warm & Welcoming Entrance

Updated: Mar 12

I was thrilled to see one of our hallway designs featured in The Sunday Times Style Magazine as part of Victoria Brzezinski article, "How Haute is Your Hallway?". It was a pleasure to share my insights on how to turn a dull entranceway into a welcoming and stylish space, proving that even the most overlooked areas of a home can add real value.

In this project - a contemporary Bachelor Apartment in London's Bankside—the hallway played an especially important role. With only three rooms in the entire apartment, making the hallway sing was essential in setting the tone for the rest of the interiors. Too often, hallways are treated as afterthoughts, but they have the power to transform how a home feels the moment you walk through the door.

1. Embrace Colour to Create a Warm Welcome

◾ Enveloping your hallway in a warm colour can completely transform the space. For a recent interior design project in South East London, we painted an otherwise overlooked hallway in Graine by ARGILE, a stunning mustard shade, and it worked wonders.

2. Upgrade Your Lighting for Instant Impact

◾ Simply switching your lightbulbs can make a huge difference. Replacing harsh, cool-toned bulbs with a 2700K warm lightbulb creates a softer, more inviting glow.

◾ Consider upgrading a pendant light or adding wall lights to give your hallway a lift. We love Pooky Lights and Lamps & Lights Ltd for stylish yet affordable fittings.

3. Smart Storage Solutions for a Clutter-Free Hallway

◾ A well-designed hallway isn’t just about aesthetics—it also needs to function well for everyday life. Think about clever hallway storage solutions:

◾ Install wall hooks, baskets, or shelves for coats, scarves, and hats.

◾ Declutter—are there items sitting in your hallway that rarely get used? Moving them elsewhere can instantly free up space.

This hallway transformation is from an apartment renovation in London that we completed last year. The custom-made quirky console table was designed by Bench Studio, one of our favourite furniture makers, to perfectly complement the space.
