Two people in a modern living room with wood paneling. One sits on a chair, the other stands smiling. A world map is on the wall.

We are delighted that The Coach House was featured in the Evening Standard, showcasing how imaginative design can transform forgotten urban spaces into layered, light-filled homes. This project, a collaboration between Open Practice Architecture and Kinder Design, involved converting a former MOT garage in East Dulwich into a compact family home. The interiors at The Coach House take their cues from the building’s reclaimed materials and thoughtful structure. Ash-lined joinery, muted tones and a restrained palette create a feeling of calm continuity across the home, while careful spatial planning ensures each area feels distinct yet connected.

Featured by the Evening Standard, the house is praised for its intelligent use of space and material - a philosophy at the heart of Kinder Design’s work. As an South East London interior design studio, we believe that even the most challenging sites can offer opportunities for creativity and warmth when approached with care and clarity.

The Coach House stands as a reflection of Kinder Design’s belief in creating homes that are not only functional but also deeply personal and enduring.
