Modern home exterior with wood and brick design, large glass windows, and greenery. Article text above describing the architecture project.

It is an honour to have our The Coach House  project featured in Dezeen, as part of their editorial coverage on intelligent, design-led infill housing projects.

A collaboration with Open Practice Architecture, this project transforms a previously neglected site in East Dulwich into a warm and layered family home. Kinder Design was responsible for the full interior design of the house and adjoining guest annexe - working closely with the architecture to ensure a cohesive and considered result.

Cozy room with wood paneling, a map on the wall, a wooden dresser with a plant and books, and a cushioned chair near a window.

The interiors take their cue from the materials used throughout the build: reclaimed brick, ash timber, and muted plaster tones create a sense of quiet continuity across the home. The spaces were designed to feel grounded yet adaptable - a series of calm, light-filled rooms that respond to the rhythm of daily life.

Featured in Dezeen’s article, the home is described as a compact and characterful response to its complex urban site. At Kinder Design, we view these kinds of constraints as creative prompts. The Coach House exemplifies our belief that even the most challenging spaces can be transformed into homes of warmth, clarity, and depth.

As a studio based in South East London, we are proud to work on projects like this - local, context-driven, and quietly distinctive. The Coach House reflects Kinder Design’s ongoing focus on homes that balance form with feeling, and architecture with the people it’s made for.
